Master Class: Conversation with Li Hongwei

Join MIT for a lunchtime lecture and slide presentation with Li Hongwei, a contemporary ceramic artist working and living in Beijing and New York. This Master Class is open to all! When registering, please select “Friend of MIT.” Please email arts@mit.edu with any questions.
Li is well known for his early series “Weight of Meditation;” his recent work, which combines porcelain and stainless steel, has received widespread critical acclaim. His works have been acquired by The British Museum, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Israel Museum, Harvard Art Museums, Philadelphia Museum of Art, etc. His works have been exhibited in a number of international art institutions, including The Art Institute of Chicago, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The New Mexico Museum of Art, the Dublin Castle in Ireland, The US Embassy, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the National Art Museum of China, and Long Museum in Shanghai, etc.
Li holds a bachelor’s degree in sculpture from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and a master’s in ceramic art from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University at Alfred, NY.
